“This Japanese practice is a process of relaxation; known in Japan as shinrin yoku. The simple method of being calm and quiet amongst the trees, observing nature around you whilst breathing deeply can help both adults and children de-stress and boost health and wellbeing in a natural way.”

Forest Bathing is a self directed print project exploring Forest Bathing and how surrounding yourself with nature can impact your mental and physical health, splitting it into three chapters.
ROOTS explores the origins of forest bathing in Japan and the links it has with mental and physical health and how it connects the Japanese spiritually to their surroundings. The second chapter, ‘Concrete Jungle’ is based on the poetry in ‘Nature is a Human Right’, a compilation edited by Ellen Miles. Chapter Three is a personal exploration of forest bathing and how taking part in it has had an impact of my mental and spiritual wellbeing.
